Monadnock Speedway opens its gates and grandstands on Saturday for the second Duel at the Dog Weekend, with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour anchoring an action-packed lidlifter at the Winchester, N.H. oval on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7.
NASCAR’s only open-wheeled division is one of a baker’s dozen of feature races spread out over two days at the track dubbed “Mad Dog.”

MILFORD, Conn. – Starting a stretch of four races in four weeks, Monadnock Speedway’s Duel at the Dog 200 is on deck for Doug Coby. The Mayhew Tools, Tommy Baldwin Racing No. 7NY returns to competition on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour this Saturday, May 6 with 200 laps in the Duel at the Dog.
It’s the third Whelen Modified Tour race of the season for 2023. Coby and the team finished fifth in the opener at New Smyrna in February, leading 106 laps and 13th at Richmond Raceway in March, leading 27 laps, sidelined from a chance to win with a mechanical issue in the final laps.

Driver, Keith Johnson, not only won for the second time in only three outings Saturday, but did it in convincing style, taking on a major league cast to win the prestigious Teddy Bear Pools Triple Crown Series 50-lap Street Stock main event at Monadnock Speedway
In a battle of Mini Stock royalty Saturday, Gordon Farnum won a furious back-and-forth battle with defending division champion Louie Maher. NHSTRA Modified blaster Tyler Leary repeated his win of a week earlier, as did Young Gun Colton Martin.
McKENNEDY ROCKS SUPERS; LEARY DOUBLES UP IN MONADNOCK MODS

WINCHESTER, N.H. – There’s a new sheriff in town at Monadnock Speedway. His name is Tyler Leary, and he’s rounding up Modified feature wins.
Winless for his career only eight days earlier, the Hatfield, Mass. pilot set fast time in qualifying Friday at the high-banked speedplant and then roared to his second NHSTRA Modified feature win in a row. Friday’s victory, like the one a week earlier, was scored over some real thoroughbreds.
The ISMA Super Modifieds – 800-plus big block horsepower rocketing a 1,850-pound missile – were in town Saturday, making their first Monadnock run in more than two years, with open-wheel super star Jon McKennedy dominating to win the All State Materials Group 75 lap main event.

WINCHESTER, N.H. – Tim Wenzel won the 50-lap Teddy Bear Pools and Spas Street Stock main event Saturday at Monadnock Speedway. It was the Holyoke, Mass. speedster’s second win in a row, this one worth a cool $1,000.
With the first 76 laps of feature racing flying by caution-free, the fast-paced event produced four first-of-the-season feature winners Saturday on the high banks.
Tyler Leary got the job done in the NHSTRA Modifieds, Nick Houle rocketed to the Pure Stock checkers, former track champ Louie Maher rocked the Minis, and John Thibodeau scored a thriller in the Six Shooters. Eddie Petruskevicius scored his fourth win in the Young Guns.
