White Mountain Welcomes North East Mini Stock Tour This Saturday

NEMST Visit Starts Another Strong Stretch of Big Events

N. Woodstock, NH — Good things will arrive in small packages this Saturday, July 25 at White Mountain Motorsports Park. The North East Mini Stock Tour (NEMST) is making the trip to Northern New Hampshire, bringing the fastest four-cylinder cars and drivers in the region for the King of the Mountain 50 in North Woodstock.

For more than a decade, NEMST has been where drivers can go on the road and be the stars in what had previously been an entry-level division. The Tour has become a regular at White Mountain in recent years with teams from throughout the region taking a scenic drive to the fast quarter-mile.

NASCAR CUP SERIES DRIVER SET FOR ANNUAL SBM 121

By Kyle Souza

SEEKONK, Mass. — Ryan Preece, who drives for JTG Daughtery Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series, is making a return to his Modified roots this weekend. The Connecticut native, who has since moved down south chasing his dream of racing at the Cup level, is set to compete with the Tri Track Open Modified Series at Star Speedway on Saturday, July 25.

Preece is a former competitor with the series, a former NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion, and multiple-time winner in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. His best career finish with JTG is a third-place effort at Talladega. He has 59 career starts in NASCAR’s top level.

But he’s coming back to his roots to compete for his modified fans.

“This was a good opportunity to hit the reset button,” Preece said. “Obviously there has been a lot of misfortune and a lot of things in 2020 that have been out of everyone’s control. This will be a good way to go somewhere, and race, and hit the reset button and get some moment built for us with the Cup car.”

Laflamme Makes First Late Model Win Count at Midseason Championships

N. Woodstock, NH — Whitefield, NH’s Christian Laflamme picked one of the best possible times for his first career Foley Oil & Propane Late Model win by capturing the Midseason Championships at White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday, July 18. The first-year Late Model racer held off fellow up-and-comer Matthew Morrill and eight-time track champion Quinny Welch to go wire-to-wire in the 60-lap main event.

Laflamme started on the outside pole of a 22-car grid and blew past polesitter Allie Menard at the drop of the green. It was relatively easy sailing for the youngster over the first half of the race as the field waged battle behind him. Morrill quickly moved up from his sixth starting spot to second in the running order, but he faced constant pressure from veterans Mike Bailey and Stacy Cahoon as they fought extra-hard with double points on the line.

By Gary Dutton

CLAREMONT, N.H. – Aaron Fellows added another exclamation point to the history book he’s rewriting this season at Claremont Motorsports Park, winning the 52-lap Dean Smith Memorial Race as he did a year ago and, in so doing, earning his 20th consecutive victory lap at the storied third-mile oval.

Both Street Stock ace Dave Greenslit and Enduro whiz Matt Gauffin made easy work of their Friday wins too, while Kodi Sabins scored a thriller, and Paul Colburn lost a heartbreaker, as a huge crowd watched on Fan Appreciation Night, the speedway’s sixth event of the 2020 season.

Hillary Renaud (Vernon, VT), meanwhile, led all the way to earn her first season victory in the ultra-competitive Street Stocks.

And, while Renaud was busy scoring her first victory lane celebration, Late Model Sportsman star Aaron Fellows (Croydon, VT) stayed perfect on the year, using a late-race pass to overcome his strongest challenge of the summer en route to victory lane. Vermont pilot Matt Sonnhalter (White River Junction, VT) wired the nightcap 50-lap Mini Stock event.

Belsito Victorious in GSPSS Gate City Classic at Hudson

Belsito Victorious in GSPSS Gate City Classic at Hudson

Angelo Belsito finally sealed the deal in the Gate City Classic at Hudson International Speedway Sunday afternoon. The Auburn MA driver had lead many laps and contended for the win in both of the first two Granite State Pro Stock Series races of 2020, only to watch victory slip away.

Belsito was good in practice, good in his heat race and dominant over the last two thirds of the feature event but victory was not easy. The Crazy Horse Racing fast time challange was removed from the schedule as time was tight due to local regulations so Cory Casagrande’s track record survives for another year. As a result heat races would be lined up based on each drivers fast lap in the second practice session.
